Hidden ghosts animate the betweenness of space, work presented for the Belfast School of Art MFA Interim Show.

My interest in relationships and the process of memory provides extensive research potential regarding recollection, connectivity, values, and failure.

Working with a wide range of materials, I try to balance the production of new objects with the use of found or inherited materials. Using familiar things, I hope to make a connection with the viewer, triggering memories, opening a space for dialogue about common experiences and stories. This work for The Green Room at Catalyst Arts, Belfast relates to loss, transition and repair. Working from a rural studio location, the space between here and there, now and then, ebbs and flows. Staying connected is a work in progress, constantly being rebuilt as circumstances change.

The ghosts in this work are the people I have lost, but have also inherited tools and materials from. This is another exhibition Uncle George’s Garage has contributed to.

An abstract sculpture made of wooden planks arranged in a layered, horizontal pattern on a metal frame, with various small decorative objects and balls placed around it, against a plain light gray wall.
